Position Overview

The Nurse Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring that clients receive safe, personalized, and high-quality care in the home setting. This position is responsible for conducting client assessments, developing individualized Plans of Care, supervising caregivers, and providing guidance to staff and families as needed.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, independence, professionalism, and the ability to travel to client homes, hospitals, assisted living communities, independent living facilities, and other care settings.

The Nurse Supervisor must be available by phone and in person during the agency’s hours of operation

Qualifications

Candidates for this position should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the State of North Carolina
  • Minimum of one year of home care experience
  • Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures
  • Strong understanding of medications, including indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration
  • Knowledge of patient evaluation procedures
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations
  • Knowledge of quality, safety, and infection control standards
  • Familiarity with accreditation and certification requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of patient care documentation, charts, and medical histories

Key Responsibilities

As a Nurse Supervisor, you will:

  • Visit new clients’ homes to complete physical and environmental assessments
  • Conduct initial assessments for in-home aide clients
  • Develop individualized Plans of Care with clients and family members
  • Complete all required documentation to initiate services
  • Orient in-home aides to the Plan of Care as needed
  • Conduct supervisory visits every 75 to 90 days
  • Review client status and document any changes in condition, environment, or care needs
  • Verify the competency of in-home caregivers
  • Provide instruction and education to aides on unfamiliar care tasks, including equipment use such as Hoyer lifts
  • Respond to client concerns and address care-related issues when needed
  • Supervise Nursing Assistants and caregivers in the field
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned
  • Remain available by phone and in person during service hours
